Fall Exhibition/Opening Reception - Chimmaya Art Gallery
Two pieces included in the line up (left to Right) #2 "Hanging There" and #6 "Player" 10in x 10 in Acrylic on Canvas
Emilia Cruz has created a new body of work that she has titled, ‘Las Hijas de La Luna y del Sol’, for her first ‘solo’ exhibition @ ChimMaya. Emilia has consistently participated in group exhibitions in our gallery this past year. Her artwork has become a favorite, with our audience in the gallery and on social media!
Emilia is a talented young artist, currently working towards her BFA @ Art Center College of Design.
Jamie Chavez has exhibited in our gallery for several years. Over the years…we’ve seen the evolution of his artwork, as he’s moved from primarily works on ‘Brown Paper’, to large wood cutouts and paintings on wood panels. In his 2nd ‘solo’ exhibition @ ChimMaya, we’re pleased to assemble a large body of Jamie’s work, that will be exhibited in our Main Gallery.
‘Park Life’ … draws from Jamie’s life experiences as a native of Los Angeles, as he has witnessed the transforming of his neighborhood of ‘Echo Park’, and the effect/impact that it has made on the longtime residents of his community.
Emilia and Jamie, with very different styles to their artwork…..are both wonderful storytellers, capturing the images, faces, themes, and the everyday world around them, for their featured exhibitions @ ChimMaya!
10” x 10” – Small Works …. As a 3rd exhibition for November, we have invited/given several artists 10”x10” canvas to create new artwork for our ‘North Gallery’. The artists were given an ‘Open Theme’ to create anything that they felt inspired to produce.
Resident Artists: Yolanda Gonzalez, Rick Ortega
Invited Artists: Margaret Garcia, Robert Palacios, Esau Andrade, Christina Ramos, Jose Lozano, Bonnie Lambert, John Galan, Roger Trivinos, Kiki Eder, German Rubio, Laura Vasquez Rodriguez, Ixchel Marina, Isaac Pelayo, Sheila Rodriguez, Francisco Palomares, David Flury, Francisco Alvarado, Mr Baby, Richard Valdes, Salvador Correa, Suzanne Urquiza
We’re excited to present this exceptional group of artists for November @ ChimMaya!
