Call and Response to the Start Up Art Fair (February 27 - March 1, 2026) https://www.startup-art.com/ at the Kinney Hotel in Venice Beach. This will be the first in-person iteration of the digital collaboration project that has connected 500+ artists across 20+ rounds since the pandemic.

In March 2020 when we went on lockdown due to the pandemic, the Shoebox Arts team created “Call and Response: Collaboration at a Distance” as a way to stay connected and to check in with and support each other. We are just finishing up Round 15 and have enjoyed the process, experiences and friendships that we have made. The project draws on the tradition of Jazz and Exquisite Corpse as a way for the artists to ping pong creatively off of each other

Shoebox Projects, located at the Brewery Art Community in Los Angeles, California, is a project space that features work-only artist-in-residence space as well as gallery space. Founded in 2016 by Kristine Schomaker of Shoebox PR and Art and Cake, the residency is designed to allow emerging contemporary artists time and space to create new work exploring their practice.
